Every journey to success in life begins with either smooth or rough paths
I come from the far northeastern Indian Himalayan region called Nagaland. While completing my Master’s thesis at Assam University, I came to the decision that I would like to continue my career in academia with a focus on speleothems to understand the past monsoon variability and its influence on future scenarios of climate change. Thus, I decided to conduct a PhD thesis in an internationally recognised research group abroad under Prof. Dr. Denis Scholz (Institute for Geosciences, University of Mainz) and Dr H. Vonhof (Climate Geochemistry Department, Max Planck Institute for Chemistry).

I’ve been living in Germany for the past nine months, and adapting to a new environment and cultural lifestyle was an eye-opener during my initial days. But as time slipped by, I’ve learned to work independently, from finding my accommodation to city registration, opening a bank account to the university admission process, finding my way around the city to understanding the transportation system etc. And of course, developing analytical research/soft skills (presentation), enhancing knowledge on diverse subjects through seminars/group discussion meetings, and building a scientific network besides participating in recreational activities (bouldering, biking tours/hiking into beautiful sceneries, swimming, exploring various festive cultural programs, places/countries) was worth it. However, rest assured to know that many international students have gone through this same process before me. Most importantly, our lives truly depend on what we make of them, and being grateful and humble in every moment of life.

As a part of the DAAD Young Ambassador program, I look forward to sharing my experience and guiding other students who plan to pursue their studies in Germany. My message to you is to never let failure stop you, keep on trying, set clear plans, and you will definitely succeed

Hello and Grüß Gott!
Like many youngsters and individuals who dream of pursuing education abroad, I was no exception. Germany, above all, was the obvious choice for me. As one of the most developed countries in the world, it offers world-class education with very little or no tuition fees. Secondly, Germany and its culture have deep roots in technological development since ages. Germany offers a unique blend of a great social life and emerging job and internship opportunities for international students. It is undoubtedly the greatest hub of automation and innovation, not to forget the classic European lifestyle. I was not only attracted to the German education system but also its culture, political stance, and the support it offers to international students and migrants. This indeed motivated me to delve deep into its culture, and as a result, I was able to achieve a C1 level certification in the German language, which taught me even more about the excellence and advancements at the University of Rosenheim and the state of Bavaria.

Coming from a non-technical family background and entering a man’s world in engineering, as a girl in India, things were never easy for me. There were many obstacles, such as finding the right university and program of choice, the application procedure, APS and visa systems, and last but not least, finding accommodation and completing the city registration in Germany. But many students and organizations like DAAD helped me build confidence and proved that it is possible for girls like me to achieve whatever we dream.

Honestly, I consider it my duty to give back to the community the support that I received. Therefore, being a DAAD Young Ambassador would be a great way to bridge the gap between international communities and the European education system.

I believe that we rise by lifting others.

Hello, I am currently pursuing a master’s degree at the University of Stuttgart, with a specialization in information technology, and I am a working student at Mercedes Benz AG. I am also an active member of AEGEE Stuttgart and organize several events for international and Erasmus exchange students. With experience from interactions with many others, I may possibly be able to guide future aspirants as well.

I completed my Electrical and Electronics Engineering degree from Gogte Institute of Technology, Belagavi, and was a gold medalist.

Having worked at Mercedes Benz R&D, India, as a diagnostics and IT developer, I felt a stronger orientation towards the research that happens in Germany. Germany has been the first country that I have traveled to outside India. But I never thought it would be this easy to travel to 5 other countries as well. Coming here with friends makes this place feel like home. Stuttgart, also being home to the Automotive sector, has a job waiting in every square meter.
The only question you need to ask is: Are you competitive enough?

Germany is a great place for pursuing higher education, as this country provides ample opportunities for everyone who is skilled in their field.
The primary reason I started my bachelor’s and Studienkolleg journey four years ago was because of its no-tuition fees policy. It made perfect sense for me to complete my bachelor’s in Germany because of my engineering background, and one knows the value that German-manufactured cars or any product hold.
My current plan is to start my Bachelor’s thesis this semester, as I am almost done with my bachelor’s in the field of Mechatronics from KIT. I also have a YouTube channel with more than 10k subscribers and have been creating content for more than 3 years now. Since I was the first content creator who started making bachelor’s-oriented content, you’ll find a lot of students in Germany who are currently pursuing their bachelor’s and got to know about Germany through me.

As a DAAD Young Ambassador, I am really looking forward to connecting with students and helping them achieve their goals.

One aspect that truly sets studying in Germany apart, beyond the free and flexible education it offers compared to other countries, is the abundance of options available for financing your studies. From need-based to merit-based scholarships, and white-collar jobs as working students and interns, to advance into roles as student assistants and part-time workers, the opportunities are diverse and extensive.

I am currently pursuing my B.Sc. in Management and Technology at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), with a major in Finance, Innovation, and Computer Engineering. Initially, I had concerns about the language barrier and my lack of technical knowledge since I pursued commerce in my higher secondary education. However, looking back, I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Alongside my studies, I work at an investment bank as a working student and serve as the Head of Student Experience at the Student Council of the TUM School of Management. My journey demonstrates how uncertain situations can turn in your favour with determination and effort.

I’m eager to engage with all of you, address any questions or concerns you may have, and provide insights based on my experiences.

I am a youngster from the pearl of the Indian ocean – Sri Lanka. After completing my high school studies and some professional courses in Sri Lanka, I decided to pursue my higher studies in Germany.

Why is Germany special to me? It is one of the most popular destinations for higher studies in the world. Furthermore, it offers a very diverse multicultural background, pleasant weather, unique food culture, and provides opportunities to experience a lot of new things beyond education.

Currently, I am pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in International Business at Reutlingen University. Given that Germany is one of the world’s largest economies, I believed it would be an excellent destination for studying business and economics.

Since coming to Germany, I have been assisting and guiding Sri Lankan students with their queries about studying in Germany. Now, with my appointment as a DAAD Young Ambassador, I have the opportunity to help others as well.

Now it’s your turn. Let’s have a conversation, share experiences, and find answers to your questions.

Best of luck to everyone!

After completing my Studienkolleg in Munich and earning my B.Sc. in Management and Technology from the Technical University of Munich (TUM), I am currently pursuing my M.Sc. in Management and Technology with a technical major in computer science at TUM. I embarked on my education journey in Germany at the age of 17, which has opened up numerous opportunities for me. My undergraduate degree allowed me to blend business administration with a solid foundation in computer science, the knowledge that I am now further developing during my master’s studies. The university’s commitment to technology and innovation demonstrated through various initiatives, has fostered my growth and facilitated my exploration of potential career paths.

Additionally, Germany’s regulations allowing students to work up to a certain time limit have enabled me to work at Adobe for two years as part of the extensibility team, while pursuing my studies.

Hello Leute!
During my undergrad, I took a German course and immediately fell in love with the country’s culture, language, and the spectrum of opportunities. I was inspired to pursue master’s studies in one of the prestigious business administration hubs due to my initial exposure to German culture and the technologies used there.

Since I started my studies at Hof University of Applied Sciences, I have been continuously in awe of the generosity and friendliness shown by the people in this wonderful part of the world. I have grown over the previous year in both professional and personal ways. My university has given me the chance to learn and develop under the guidance of my professors on incredibly pertinent themes, providing me with the advantages of their fundamental knowledge, work ethics and honesty.

Additionally, I work as an intern in the field of process modelling and mining, which has given me insights into the German work culture and some cutting-edge technologies. I thoroughly enjoyed the scenery, regional cuisine, and festivals while I was in Germany, aside from the academic and professional environment. I will always treasure the cultural encounters I had while traveling throughout Europe and attending the traditional Oktoberfest.

I firmly believe that Germany can provide a fantastic platform and a window through which to view the rest of the globe! My time here has been gratifying and pleasant in every way. I’m grateful for the chance to speak with you as a DAAD Young Ambassador and encourage you to pursue your goal of studying in Germany.

Hello Everyone,
I am currently pursuing my PhD in the group of Kilian Singer at the University of Kassel. I work with ion traps and my research focuses on implementing the quantum token protocol on ensembles of trapped ions using optimal pulse sequences. Originally from Gurgaon, India, my decision to pursue physics as a career was inspired by a fascination with various natural phenomena and mechanical/electronic devices. However, it was during my time as a Masters student at IITK that I truly grasped the essence of research in physics and gained valuable experience.

The opportunity to work in Germany came through one of my lab mates at IITK who had completed an internship in Germany. He informed me about my current PhD position in the field of quantum optics. The prospect of doing a PhD in a country renowned for its significant contributions to this field was very exciting to me.

Germany has been incredibly welcoming, and I have had some unforgettable experiences during my stay here. Apart from my research work, I enjoy organising Diwali parties for my friends. Additionally, solo travelling has been a very empowering experience for me as a woman. Amid the challenges of my PhD, I have also discovered the therapeutic joy of cooking, which has been a comforting and fulfilling way to de-stress during tough days.

I am deeply passionate about sharing knowledge and teaching others. As a DAAD Young Ambassador, I look forward to guiding and mentoring students in the future.
